Foundation is used inside a frame to give bees a template for building honeycomb and to help eliminate cross comb in the hive. Frames inside the hive can be made of either plastic or wood. Beeswax foundation is meant to be used with wire that is then embedded into a wooden frame. Each deep 100% beeswax foundation is 8 1/2 inches x 16 3/4 inches and fits 9 1/8 inch frames.
