Objective: This course is for aspiring new beekeepers, established beekeepers who wish to broaden their base of knowledge, and members of the community who desire a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to competently manage a colony of honeybees. This is an online course that you will be able to take at your own pace. Additional course content will be intermittently added, by our instructors, throughout the Spring. Check your email for information regarding live zoom meetings and “office hours” in case you have questions about the course content.

Experience a day in the life of a beekeeper with The Valley Hive Beekeeping Experience! Whether you are looking to start your own backyard hive or just have a fascination with honeybees and want to learn more. *Space is limited for this event. We regret that we are not able to offer refunds for cancellations or missed appointments. Please choose your date carefully. In 2 hours, you’ll see what a honeybee experiences over the course of a lifetime, and what a beekeeper experiences over the course of a day. Enjoy the serenity and beauty of the surrounding landscape. Visit our showroom complete with a fully-functional glass observation hive, venture into an apiary, and finish up with some raw, local honey. During the apiary portion of the tour, you’ll put on a bee suit and assist the beekeeper in opening active hives and performing routine hive inspections.
This is a one hour class offered during the months of January, February, and March. 2022 class dates to be determined.
If you are thinking about becoming a beekeeper and don’t know where to begin, The Valley Hive has the perfect class for you. During our Introduction to Backyard Beekeeping class, you will learn everything from the history of beekeeping to the lifecycle of the honeybee along with everything you will need to know to start your own backyard hive. This two-hour class is being offered during the fall in a classroom setting and is perfect for those wanting to purchase bees in April. Upon competition of this class, you can continue your beekeeping journey in the Spring with our hands-on beekeeping classes in the bee yard. We will not be getting into hives for this class.
